Experience: From Run-On-Flat to standard Contis

I have finally made the switch from Dunlop/Pirellis RSCs on my 07 MCSa to standard Continental ContiSportContact 3s. I couldn't locate the star-rated (BMW approved) spec of 205/45 R17 84V so went to the next available 205/45 ZR17 88W.

I must say in the couple of days I have them on, the car feels different for the better: you can feel the suspension working instead of crashing, the cabin is much more quiet and the occasional rattles have disappeared.

My car has the sport suspension option, which with the new tyres feels suprisingly compliant on the road. Yes the ride is still firm, but you can now drive over potholes without losing traction due to the tyre bouncing up. Steering also feels a bit softer more progressive. The steering is now centering properly, with the RSCs it didn't at low speeds.

The ContiSportContacts appear to suit the car very well, being absorbent but not particularly soft to feel springy and much more quite than the RSCs.

If anyone had reservations about doing the switch, JUST DO IT!
