Wheel Rubbing and dsc light

Ok, im new to the Mini, and i need basic help. I have a 2003 cooper hatchback automatic, and i noticed a rubbing sound coming from the brakes as i applied them today. The DSC light came on briefly. The pads look like they still have a lot of life on them. I tried driving the car again after about half an hour and got the rub sound as i put it in reverse, but once i put it in drive the sound diminished after a few applications of the break and no more sensor light. I might mention that i just put after market wheels on the car, and reset the tire pressure sensor after they were installed. been driving it about a week with no problems. Its my understanding that the wheel sensors have to be replaced at the same time the pads are changed because they wear down just like pad sensors. So...if my pads are still good, is it possible that the sensors on the dsc's are worn down to need replacing, or can it be something more serious? any advice is greatly appreciated. Thank you!!
