What can you fit in your roadster?

About to pull the trigger on ordering a new roadster, couldn't be more excited to make this happen. The only thing holding me back the slightest bit is the cargo room - I would very much love to see photos of what your roadster can hold! How many grocery bags? How about a cooler and a couple of small dufflebags for a weekend trip to the lake? What size bags can fit behind the seats in that small area back there? Any perspectives would be much appreciated!

not much behind the seats, pocketbook/ laptop bag.
first weekend trip had two small bags and small dog bed (pappy kept hoping in his bed). dog supplies ect.
we we're pleasantly surprised to find pass through area has small has styrofoam cooler built in holds 2 6pks of soda.

that trip we had gotten my dad 21.5 inch iMac set up for his birthday-
large box fit just fine.

The trunk is way bigger than you would think. We have had no issues with a full load of groceries, or suitcases for a long weekend for two of us or a one week business trip for me.

Big thanks to you both! Here's a long-shot, but any musicians out there ever try and fit a guitar case in the trunk? Wish there was a dealership nearby where I could try myself...thanks again for everyone's help, great forum.

You might not get a bass in, but I'm GUESSING that a 6 string acoustic should go...

It fits a walker! I took my 89 year old uncle for a ride and his folded walker fit easily in the trunk.

It is not bad size at all. Way better than some roadsters.

Exactly because there is no back seat, there is a surprisingly large trunk. On my current trip I brought 3 medium sized duffles and they didn't come close to filling 1/2 the trunk. As for a guitar, the neck should fit through the pass-through into the cabin no problem.

You'd be shocked what you can get in. We have taken several weekend trips with no issues and last weekend to attend a mini drive-in event and overnight stay out of town we had the following squashed in:
The giant duffel bag that holds the car cover, a collapsible bucket filled with car care product bottles, a small suitcase for two peoples clothes, a small toiletry tote, a purse, a collapsible cooler that was filled, a change of clothes laid out on top for a funeral the next day, a large fm radio/ CD player for the drive in, 2 large beach chairs, two large blankets, a giant bottle of Kraken rum, and 64 bags of cracker jacks. All that and we still had room! Other Mini model owners say they are envious of our trunk space!

I have an arch top guitar in a large case. It can only fit on the passenger seat with the top down. As far as stuff behind the seat, that depends on how far up or back the seat is. For me it's 1 click from all the way back and the back of the seat is angled so that it actually rubs on the back wall. The trunk is plenty large enough for all kinds of goodies. I don't even think about this car if I have to HAUL stuff. That's what my wife's SUV is for.

Actually ended up making the drive to the dealership so I could test out the cargo room for myself...holds my guitar case without even having to go through the shoot! Think I'm going to order this today...

It looked like it should. Buy the car, you won't regret it!

Try this on for size

Just got back from vacation, fit two suitcases, golf clubs (Driver through pass through) and wifes shoes. Even I was surprised.

Wow FBGiant, nice work! All worries are out the door for me. Placed the order for this guy on Monday. Coming from driving a 1999 Chevy Tahoe, this is a big switch. I don't know how I'm going to wait!

Looks like you still have a little bit of space on the left side.

These aren't great photos taken from my phone but they give you the idea
We stocked em with diet Mountain Dew for roadtrip to Florida ( Mickey and MINI 8 )
When we got there had the opportunity to ask and it seems roadsters and coupes have em behind the pass through.

My Roadster is my 'work car' so I had to make this rack to go in the boot/trunk so that I can carry my work ladders and still go round corners like a 17 year old with acne:

Without either of the boot floors in place (and with plenty of sawdust from making the ladder rack...), this is what is left. My Roadster has a semi-automatic roof, so I only get half a 'cooler', as under the left side is the roof hydraulics.

A useful thing for carrying 'stuff', or junk, is the Mini accessory 'Organiser' which clips into the parcel shelf (blocking the pass-through hatch) and providing a very convenient place to put 'stuff'.

This accessory is an entirely ludicrous $200 for a bit of luggage, but is so convenient that I think it's almost worth it.

Continued below.......

And if, as BMW expects, I had an iPad and an iPhone it would be definitely be a must-have accessory, as there is a dedicated iPad case that slips in the front and it even has an iPhone pocket in the case.

But for us stick-in-the-muds, leaving the iPad case at home provides a useful open pocket for storing ultra-ready-access 'stuff'. I'm not sure if the Organiser is available in the US but you can try ordering it as part 82272218140 from your dealer (you can see it in RealOEM under Universal Accessories/Interior accessories in general).

And for "what can you fit in your roadster", I present the "how to carry a winter wheel set" - one wheel in the passenger seat (even I had high enough standards to wrap that in an old sheet), two wheels nearly in the boot and the fourth on the Euro bike rack:

For long roadtrips like the Dragon, I'l be adding a MINI FINI SportLink on the back so I can use my cargo Carrier from my [now totaled] R56. I'lll just need to see if Russell can use the one from the R5 or if he wil need to add a different one.
