OEM Pads by chance.... That is a lot for a week, but I would guess if you do lots of stop and go city driving that amount is possible.

When I switched to silver wheels last month it became a concern for me as well.....so now I use Sonax wheel cleaner from Phil's detailing shop in Jersey at; www.detailersdomain.com

I buy it in bulk !

Brake dust just runs off the wheel after few minutes of soak. Then either use high pressure washer or minimal brush work and rinse. I then coat the wheels with Wheel Wax too which also seems to help between cleanings. Definately does not accumulate as bad.

You could try Car Quest Gold line series of brake pads. They are actually Akebono's and have much lower brake dust than OEM.

I use Akebono pads, and drive over 700km a week. After a week of driving my wheels (silver R112s) still look like the beginning of the week.

Yup OEM pads. Although I drive a lot mostly highway aprox (80 miles a day highway 15 city)

Definetly gonna look for the wheel wax.
I wash it on my day off and it comes off really easy but it's just so unsightly in between.

Never had this much on my gm vehicles.

My wife's Clubman had about 6 month's worth on her silver wheels. I washed the car today in preparation for some graphics (and then it rained straight away, of course) and I was amazed that it came right off with just regular shampoo and a sponge, no wheel cleaner or anything special.

I recently traded in my 2010 Justa for a 2011 MCS. I had white wheels on the 2010 that I had the dealer swap to the 2011 MCS, and the brake dust was really bad. I tried wheel wax, but it didn't make much of a difference. Then I put akebono ceramic pads on, and what a difference. Now I hardly have any trace of brake dust, even after several days of in town driving.

mini must be using different pads on the cms all4s

i have the white 18" turbofans and brake dust is not a problem, i get virtually no brake dust buildup on the wheels at all

and what minimal dust i do get wipes off with a dry rag or papertowel

Akebono Euro-Ceramic on my 08MCS. 30,000miles plenty of breaking power virtually no dust. Maybe twice a year I have to wipe down the wheels when i wash it. The spray hose at the car wash is all i need for the most part. It's the second best "mod" I've done.

Questions:
1. Life expectancy of OEM brake pads?
2. Covered under maintenance agreement?
3. Will MINI change over to ceramic (for cost difference) when replacing?

Oh, I lurked around NAM before I ordered, one of the reasons I ordered mine with black wheels. I'm sure they are filthy, but what I can't see .....

1. Around 30K I'd say....
2. Yes, they replaced my wife's pads at 31k.
3. Don't think they even offer BMW pads in ceramic.....so, no.

I had Akebono pads on my R53 when I had to replace the factory ones. I had virtually NO brake dust....I can't wait until I can put them on my current car.

Change to the EBC Redstuff pads they are a whole lot less dust.

And we've found the Sonax wheel cleaner to be the best.

I'm curious about it because right as shown in the picture has significantly more dust and my first brake pad check isn't till 18k miles.

This is my first MINI so not sure if rights wear that much faster.

Although I'm interested in the ceramic I purchased the extended maintenance package and warranty package which is supposed to cover pads

Make your own brake dust cleaner. Get some Baer driveway degreaser at Home Depot. Dilute it with water maybe 80:1 It takes just a few ounces per quart. It is just as strong as anything you buy in the autoparts store. The difference is one 8 dollar gallon of the concentrate may last you 8 years or more. I have been using this since 1994 and in that time frame I have gone through a gallon and a half of Baer Driveway degreaser. And you are talking to someone with a wheel fetish. When your cleaner costs pennies you wont even think about wasting time waxing. ANd for the final touch if you have a shop vac flip the hose around to blow off the water before it spots. Do the same to the car and it looks like you had it detailed.

i noticed when i swapped my summer wheels/tires for my winter wheels/tires that my 03/2012 build cms all4 OEM brake pads are TRW brand

as this is my first mini, i don't know if that is the brand used in previous years or on other models of mini, but again, these pads make very very little dust, and the dust they do make wipes off with a dry rag

I clean mine weekly if needed with a waterless carwash spray / wax all in one. I find the rain washes the dust right off keeping them waxed.
