Beware of Brake Cleaner

Just replaced my rotors and pads. Used Valvoline brake cleaner on the back calipers and it pealed a good portion of the paint right off. The back calipers seem to be only painted though. The fronts are definitely powder coated and they withstood the brake cleaner quite well. Mounted Power Slot slotted rotors and EBC Yellowstuff pads. Autocross every weekend, will let you know how everything works.

Thanks for the head's up. I personally would have assumed like you that the painted calipers would be able to withstand the brake cleaner no problem. I am bit shocked that that happened to you but grateful that you decided to post about it, letting others be aware. Much appreciated.

Let us know your thoughts on the EBC Yellowstuff pads.

I will use only the non-chlorinated brake cleaner from now on. Getting VHT caliper paint to do a quick repair. Probably powder coat the rears this winter.
