I tried a search on this, but didn't come up with anything. I have a 2007 with the factory iPod adapter in the hidden compartment. I'm using an early iPod nano that is always connected. From what I've read, the 2007 iPod system is a different animal than all other R56 systems.

The issue I have is that if I turn off the car for more than about 15-30 minutes, the next time I start the car, it defaults right back to FM and loses track of the song that was playing on the iPod.

I'm guessing that the iPod is going into a sleep mode, and when it does, the head unit no longer sees it. The reason I Use this iPod is that the screen is bad, so it is useless otherwise.

Anyone have experience with this, and find a work-around or solution?

 

This style is still available for 2nd Gen cars but there are more advanced ones as well that can not be retorfitted to a 2007

Unfortunately this is the way it is designed. There are timing circuits that turn things off after certain intervals in the car and can start them up under certain circumstances. The Stereo system will always default back to the radio form any other input CD/AUX/iPod after the system timer times out. People that listen to books on CD have a real problems with this as they loose their place int he book.

it has nothing to do with the iPod it is the way the stereo system is programmed.

Unfortunately there is not way to work around this situation with the stereo system timeing out and returning to radio after 15-30 minutes.

I was hoping that was not the case, but didn't hold out much hope for a solution. What a bummer.

 

It does suck and many have reported their displeasure to MINI USA but it seems they dont listen.
