Super Hot Cooper?

OK This is the first modern 4 cyl car I've owned. I notice that sometimes when I drive "spiritedly," that the fan will stay on for a few minutes after I shut it off. Never had this on a car before, and I have a Cooper, not "S."

Normal?

4 cyl, 5 cyl, 6 cyl. 8 cyl, doesn't make a differnce. All modern cars have electric fan cooling now and a sensor that tells that fan to kick on or off based on engine temp.

Your old cars cooled off better keeping the engine idling (pump circulates water, fan draws air through radiator(cooler) and over motor). Now the new cars cool the engine off after you shut her down for a while (no pinging)

Perfectly normal operating procedure for all new cars with combustion engines.
