Air conditioning unit mute

Hi!
I'm a new member from California. I have a super clean 2002 MINI with 69,000 miles. For a few days now, I experience electrical problems.

A couple of days ago while sitting in my car, the keys in my hand, ready to get out, I hear the gong sound. I was able to close my sunroof without the key in. I should not have been able to do that.

Yesterday my turn signal controls acted up. The blinkers outside worked, but not inside.

Today now, my air conditioning/heater unit went silent. It's completely non functional, no lights.

I don't even want to imagine what the dealer would charge me if I told them about all of this. I don't know if there's any connection between these three things, but let's focus on the air conditioning/heater first.

What would you guys suggest I do first?

Thanks a bunch,
Tracie

You have auto ac+heat or manual....?
sounds like it might be the BCM, the body control module....basicly a dealer only part that must be programed...might be worth checking the connections on the plug side for corossion.
Edit....sometimes just before a weak battery dies, the electronics act up...might want to have it tested ...

Yep, simple things first.

Chech battery connection for corrosion, and tightness.

Check battery voltage and alternator output.

Check chassis ground connections.

Once you have ruled out horses, then you can look foe zebras , so to speak.

The sunroof thing is normal. When the key is removed, should be able to operate the windows for a few minutes or until one of the doors are opened. The other stuff sounds like a loose connection somewhere. I had the exact same problems with my old jeep after the ignition was damaged after a theft attempt.
