Carbon build up/ Walnut Shells/ Seafoam

Hi , just picked up a 2007 MCS with jcw , 46K miles , after a deer totaled my 2008 justa . I was always aware of the MCS with the timing chain tension-er problem. Now do I have to worry about Carbon build up too !

Has anyone gone the route of doing the walnut shell method for the carbon build up ? If so where did you have it done , any recommendations of a good independent mechanic in Bergen County , Westwood , Paramus area .
I also see some threads about using Seafoam for carbon build up , with a car with 46K miles will I see any benefit by using Seafoam

Are you having issues like stumbling and reduced power?
If not, leave it until you do.
If the carbon build up gets bad I'd skip the seafoam and have the walnut blast done. Then going forward throw in a bottle of Chevron techron every 3K miles.
You can always pull the intake and clean the valves by hand which looks like a PITA to me.
I think the walnut clean runs about $400.
After you have them cleaned avoid short drives if possible, use premium fuel.
If the car doesn't have an oil catch can and boost tap get one and install it, it'll help.

don't waste your money on any fuel injection cleaner as they don't work on DI motors, seafoam doesn't really do anything for buildup already there so don't waste money on that eigther. Do the walnut blasting and get a good catch can and pcv delete. Add a meth injection kit to clean the valves as you drive and you should be fine.

Future reference

Thanks for the quick reply
No , my car does not misfire or stumble . As far as loss of power ... cannot answer nothing to compare to being the new owner for less than 2 weeks. I can tell you it is way quicker than my MC .

Anyone have recommendation for mechanic in bergen county ? Would like to get away from using the Dealers.

Helix13.com just announced the walnut shell service and they are in Philladelphia, PA and I was thinking of having mine done when I'm down there for new shock replacement.
