R56 cleaning oil filter cover during oil change
cleaning oil filter cover during oil change
Anyone ever done this?
When I did my last oil change, I tried rinsing the filter cover and was astounded by how much dirt I had removed. I figure I'd just rinse it with some handsoap in my sink and moments later, my sink was COVERED in a THICK black film of dirt and particles.
I didn't want to clog my sink so I didn't try doing a thorough cleaning of the cover. I can only imagine there still being a LOT more dirt that I haven't removed from the cover.
thoughts?

I've got a parts washer in my garage, along with a lift, so that isn't a problem for me. You can buy a workbench sized parts washer... Or use a disposable aluminium pan, and buy some Blue Lighting parts cleaner, or Castrol Purple cleaner, or use Simple green.......
