R56 NO start after intake off...
NO start after intake off...
Ok, I'm crying uncle. It doesn't happen often, but I'm at a loss.
My 07' S has been down for about 2 months now, as I've been slowly doing some things to it in the garage. About a month or so ago, I cleaned the intake valves via removing the intake (I have a post somewhere on here about it) and in the process, I went ahead and threw an aftermarket intercooler on it. I did the passenger side PCV block off with plugs from czar (thanks!) and have a BSH can to install, but since I got the bumper back on today, I figured I'd go ahead and button the intake back up and start it up.
Well, I got nothing. Just cranks and cranks, not even a remote sound of firing. A couple things before I continue...when doing the intake valves I cranked the engine over via the key rather than hand cranking it and also didn't unhook the battery during any of the rest of the take-down. I thought that maybe mini's may go into some silly limp mode because of that, so I unhooked the battery today (positive only) and left it for about an hour. Hooked back up, still nothing.
So...as my crappy day has been going, I tore the intake back down AGAIN, double checked the valves by peeking down the intake runners (everything looks to be ok...no blockage...no old shop towels I forgot...lol. I checked and double checked all connectors and can't find anything out of order.
Any ideas? I went ahead and unhooked both terminals on the battery just in case (never heard of having to do that). The only thing that puzzles me is down where the PCV hose from the passenger side connects to the manifold, there's a smaller emissions hose that runs next to it, and there's another open nipple down there as well. I don't recall anything hooking to that...then again, I can't find another hose that would hook there.
I'm going to stare at this thing a little longer, and before long, if it doesn't start, it's going to the dealer for the first FAIL in my life.
I can't imagine anything insane like timing or such has happened, it just doesn't make sense.

Nevermind. It finally started. I don't know if my transfer pump or high pressure pump was sleeping on the job, but I think it lost all prime sitting there for 2 months. After a ton of cranking it finally started to fire...then better...then better...then finally started.
Ugh...
Ugh...
