New CM owners: Go clean up the cosmoline before it's too late!
Just picked up our new CM4 from the dealer on Wednesday and today I learned about the cosmoline problems. I spent the last 30 minutes or so wiping up a bunch of cosmoline that was about to drip on to my plastic trim and ruin it. Cosmoline is this yellow ear-wax looking crap that MINI uses to help prevent rust.
I found cosmoline in the following locations:
-The front corners of the bonnet
-The corners of the bonnet above the wheel wells
-Front and back bottom corners of each door, and some spots under the rubber seal between the corners.
-There was some seeping out on the shock tower
Being new a new car it was very easy to clean. Paper towels and q-tips are all that is needed. I'll probably add cosmoline-checks to my weekend chores.
