It would be a Mini Cooper of course, with a Mazda Renesis rotary engine. Now THAT would be a great car!!!!!! No timing chain, supercharger, valves, camshaft, etc., and so smoooooooooooooooooth............

I wouldn't mind seeing an Audi 1.8 liter turbo engine in a MINI. Tune it to the TT's 225hp. . . .. .

Rotary would be fun too.

Sorry, had a 1.8T in a Jetta for 18 months: Great engine/turbo combo: Tractable, tuneable, and very robust....

...but utterly without soul for me. Forced induction just doesn't turn my crank, sorry.

Heresy of heresies: I'd love a DOHC Honda B16 w/a honda transmission. Something that would be rewarding to really flog on those backroads, on the boil at 5-7k rpm. But then, I drive a MC, not a MCS.

An M3 Engine would be great, and the conversion has been done to the Mini.

mmmm...the Mazda RX-8...That was one car I was seriously considering before I stumbled on the MCS. If they still sell the RX-8 in 5 or 6 years it could be in my future

Even though I love my Mini, I would have bought the RX-8 if it had been priced the same as my MCS. The Mini Cooper S is great bang for the buck. I could not pass it up, even though maintenance costs down the road will be higher than the Japanese cars (BMW). I just love that rotary engine. It boiled down to the following cars in base trim;

RX-8 ($26,000)
Nissan Z ($27,000)
Subaru WRX ($25,000)

I hate to say it, but I'm probably in the same boat. Not sure how they handle though, I imagine its pretty good.

I have had the honor of driving an RX-8... great car, great handling, but not so much torque.

As for the VW group 1.8T... great engine, but isn't it quite heavy?

I think that a Honda S2000 engine would go pretty well in the Mini... pretty light, powerful, and VERY reliable.

Hmmmm.

:smile:
