First Mods?

While I wait the agonizing weeks til I get my JCW Roadster, I'm already looking at mods to get eventually. Here's my list, what is everyone else looking at? In order most likely purchased

Drop-In Alta Filter...few more ponies for not much $$. P
Smaller Antenna...of course.

JCW Strut Tower Brace....yes I know it doesn't do much, but I have one on my current R53 and love the way it looks :-)

Rear Sway Bar (probably a 22)

Springs :-)

Oh, the waiting!

Here's my list, also in general priority order:
  • Invisishield on the nose (done)
  • MINI license plate frames (done)
  • CravenSpeed Platypus front plate mount (done)
  • Short antenna (done) (MINI version but might have done CravenSpeed if I'd though about it more)
  • ScanGuage (done)
  • CravenSpeed mounts for GPS and ScanGuage (enroute)
  • Suspension, discussed ad nauseum in other threads. Summary: JCW Suspension if I can wait, Koni FSD, 19mm rear sway, and perhaps camber plates and control arm bushings if I cannot.
  • JCW Tune (not something you need of course!)
  • <items above have 95% probability, below this point is the pure wishlist>
  • JCW Aero kit side skirts
  • JCW Brakes

I had the strut brace on my JCW and did like the look for sure, although I didn't drive the car such that I really noticed it. That might happen too in a moment of weakness.

Don

Liquid,

Has Alta cracked the code for the 2012's? Are you getting an S or JCW. I was under the impression the S was not cracked for the '11 an '12's. Only for the JCW since the engine is still a carry-over. I too had it on my '08 R56 and it is an awesome mod.

Not from what I was last told....but they claim they're "getting close". I'm getting a JCW, so there might be some hope there, but I probably won't actually buy an AP until around Christmastime anyhow :-) When the Roadster is up for the winter and just wants some more mods :-)

I think my list for JCW Roadster would go something like this:
1) Strut Brace...most likely NM Engineering, still researching
2) NM RS Alpha springs/H-Sport LCA's
3) DOS CAI Intake
4) Alta AccessPort

You've come to the right place.

Read & browse, at least that's what I did beginning last November or so.

"Stickied" threads here have a lot of good info to get you started. And also the on-going ones like "what did you do to your MINI today" that cover a wide range of modifications.

Then: some browsing of the frequently-mentioned vendor sites: hmmm, R56, Exhaust, what's available? Ah, Invidia-Borla-NM-Miltek all make them. Engine: catch cans, really? What for? And so on.

It doesn't take real long before you can keep up with most conversation on here, and Google is your friend when something's mentioned that doesn't click. Obviously helpful to have auto background of some type, so that it's "oh, that's what they do on *MINIs*" versus "what's a swaybar and why would I want one?" but even if not, you can uncover a lot of patient (ok, and rarely a bit snarky) explanations by folks willing to share knowledge.

i am installing some green LEDs today to replace the interior lighting and door puddle lights and the parking lights too as i hate when the xenon lights don't match the parking/driving lights :P and may add an LED strip somewhere for daytime lights.. but haven't figured out where yet.

Does anyone know if we can get the regular Cooper S fuel cap (the chrome one) fitted to our cars? I was really disappointed when the car came with the simple body-coloured door, my 2007 Cooper S hatch had the chrome one and that alone would help break up one side of the car at least.

Thanks - I'm happy with them and agree with your points.

I believe the fuel cap issue is the same with the cabrio - it can't be done.. Although I'd be happy to hear if I'm wrong!

Just curious, how does this effect the warranty? Or for that fact any of the modes?

New Roadster home for 24 hours and now has JCW big brakes, Let's Motor license plate frame, rubber floor mats, center console cubby storage tray and wheel locks. Next up will be the under hood insulation and spacers to push the wheels out.
