airbag light on 2006 mcs
This could be the plug for the heated seats - and the heated seats that were in it were replaced by the original owner (a cloth for leatherette swap for example). I did this swap in my 2005 MCS and even though I followed all the instructions correctly (disconnecting the battery, etc) the airbag warning light still came on when I plugged everything back in
And is it only the dealer than can do these resets - or is it possible to buy a code reader that will do it? I simply hate having to visit my dealer - they ****** something up every time they touch my car!

Unfortunately you can only get it reset at the dealer. They tried to charge for a full hour. Spoke to the manager and only charged for a 1/2hr to reset it. I removed my amp. Which is under the pass seat. He told me as soon as I unplugged the harnesses. It would set the light on. Even if you undo the battery. Looks like a trip to the dealer is the only way. Talk to the service manager.
If you unplug it but don't turn on the ignition, it won't trigger the warning (and of course, nor when the battery is disconnected). I researched this before doing work on my car and have taken the seats out several times without an issue.
However, it is true that once an airbag warning is on, it must be reset by the dealer. Many independent BMW and MINI shops also have a reset tool.
Back to to original question. According to electrical diagrams, if that connector has 3 wires (the other connectors have only 2) and the wire colors are brown, green/violet, and green/white, then it is the seat heater connector.
