R59 Chick car!
Chick car!
I have been showing alot of my buddies at the Firehouse my new car I'm going to get. I must say alot of them like the Mini and say they are good cars but most of them say it's a chick car. That all they see is women driving them. I must admit they are right, at least in NY here but I feel the Roadster is different. It seems us men are mostly on the forums anyway but I dont care what they say anyway. Wait until they see my Roadster!
Funny. When Sunshine MINIs went to Daytona a couple of weeks ago, James overheard an onlooker referring to the Coupé as the first MINI that DIDN'T look like a chick car.
When I got my first MINI in 2003, I had a gay friend who told me that MINIs looked too gay for HIM to drive, much less me.
I wouldn't worry too much about other people's opinions. What often shuts up the naysayers is a spirited drive in the passenger's seat. Seems to bring out the respect. Hehheh.

If a "Chick Car" is defined as a car chicks usually drive, the most feminine cars on the road are Mustangs, Tiburons, and Wranglers. I see mostly men driving MINI's, but a lot of middle aged ladies as well. I don't really care, I don't have a complex.
Even in San Francisco, the majority of MINI drivers I see are women (actually by a wide margin).
A CHICK CAR??
I drive a MINI. Does that mean my manhood is in question?
If you can find friends who will pick the car for you to own, and pay for it too, I would respect their opinion. Otherwise, what you drive is your business, unless you're telling them how to dress.
Isn't it enough that the car companies tell us what we should buy?

Always an interesting conversation.
In TX in the 90's, most Chevy Suburbans were "chick" driven a lot of the time, moms toting youngsters to/from whatever. As opposed to owning a "soccer mom" minivan, who'd want that image? ;-)
I've owned a Miata since '99, so I've fielded my share of such.
My MA claimed the c-word "cute" is banished from their firm. MINIs are officially "cool", not "cute". He's done a few (unofficial) rapid-twisty road ride-alongs for guys who aren't believers. His model was that original Tundra ad: Bubba drives up in a new Tundra, buddies start in with the "Whatcha doin' in that Ty-ota? Doncha like real trucks?" Bubba: "Get in"; fast cut to madcap off-road travel, mud-splashing, etc. etc. proving Tundra-"manliness".
Whatever.
Drive what you like.
P.S. Oh, and that new Camry Hybrid TV ad is interesting. Aftershave-ad-quality "manly" guy is piloting his new Camry Hybrid, while a squadron of jet fighters give chase. Point seems to be: these aren't just for latte-drinking Sierra club members after all. So apparently there's a "dweeb car" vibe they're wishing to counter. Marketing is funny stuff for sure.

Down south here, alot of women drive 4X4's (jeeps, pu trucks) raised to the sky.
True, there are alot of women Mini drivers also but seems our club members (Sunshine Mini of Pensacola) are men driven.
I get alot of woman attention in mine which is OK by me. Makes me feel younger then the 63 I am.
'Drive what you like, Like what you drive'.
All my friends are trying to find me a girl that drives a MINI. It's funny. I wouldn't say it's manly, but its not a VW bug that has a flower vase in it. All my friends say my MINI fits me...
Mustangs, Jeeps and Eclipse's are all, IMO, more of a chick ride.
The fact is, racer's get it. People that are fans of rallying, track days and F1, not NASCAR guys.
All you have to do is take them for a ride, then they get it.

A stock mini looks like a chick car.. mod it correctly and they will think differently haha. like mine.. I have claimed its a chick to a lot of people and they are like i dont see the chick car in your car at all..
so i guess its all based on how your car looks really.

Anyway. Here in Utah I see a pretty even mix of male to female drivers. In fact, more often than not I see male. It's always the males that wave too, never the females. Darn girls.
I love mine. I used to have several friends into Autocrossing who loved my old Miata that I sold when I bought this. The Mini is a very polarizing car. 9 out of 10 people I've shown it to love it. I've had women in drive throughs tell me they love it. I had the gal at my credit union who did my loan paperwork ask for a ride in it.
It's fun to drive, easy to park, fast, and non-threatening. Chicks love it! I love chicks! I'd call that a win/win.

Chicks LOVE MINI's!!!!
as a guy....yeah that just SUCKS! (enter sarcasm here)
Chicks love my car....oh the Humanity of it all. Can you think of anything worst then that
LMAO
You can laugh all the way home with their comments, while a hot chick who loves MIIN's is sitting right next to you.....

I do gain points by getting the All 4 S Manual!I think really it's the people who have never driven a Mini because they don't realize the power or the handling and just write it off as a little shoe car equivalent to a Prius.
I hear that too, "Not very Masculine" from the guys... But I also get "Cute Car" from the females... For me, I don't care. I can smoke their Masculine Hemi, show them video clips of rally runs, and that seems to open their minds a bit.
With so many automotive choices out there, plenty or everyone... What have we said about their choice of cars?
In the long run guys.... "We are just getting in touch with our feminine side", Chicks dig that response!

Hahahahaha!! Yeah I realize the impact but it was like dropping an F bomb for dramatic effect (and I mean Fabulous of course
). I really picked it because I read a thread earlier where a guy gave up his Countryman for a Prius V due to problems.... Now THAT is a chick move!
