R56 Removing a JCW Carbon shift knob
Removing a JCW Carbon shift ****
Hey all. New to the Mini world but loving the JCW so far. I'm trying to install a alcantara jcw shift boot. And right now a JCW carbon shift **** is on my shifter. I can't figure out how to remove it (I've tried pulling up on it super hard and it won't budge) so that I can pull off the leather shift boot and put the alcantara one on.
Would love any detailed advice so I can avoid the dealership. Thanks!

You are on the right track! Having seen it done first raise the boot from the round trim ring on console. Once you've done that it really is just brute force to remove it. Good luck and make sure your head is to one side!
Here is a link to a pdf describing how to install a JCW shift ****.
It looks like you have to remove the clip at the base of the shifter before you can completely remove it. It is kind of hard to tell from the diagram and interpreting the reverse procedure.

I don't think it does. Mine is second generation and none of the instructions have worked so far. My JCW shift **** is slightly different than the ones pictured in the PDF. I want to remove it so I can put on the jcw alcantara shift boot, but I can't get the stinking **** off.
