Removing a JCW Carbon shift ****

Hey all. New to the Mini world but loving the JCW so far. I'm trying to install a alcantara jcw shift boot. And right now a JCW carbon shift **** is on my shifter. I can't figure out how to remove it (I've tried pulling up on it super hard and it won't budge) so that I can pull off the leather shift boot and put the alcantara one on.

Would love any detailed advice so I can avoid the dealership. Thanks!

You've probably already searched Youtube but I came across this when looking for info on the JCW alcantara shifter.

It doesn't show how to remove it but judging by the way it installs it looks to be just the opposite of mounting it ie. what MINIGEZR said.
