Just picked up the new S Cab and have a question. When I got home, I noticed that that the red park light on the shifter base(auto) is lighted and does not go out when the car is turned off. I also hear what seems to be a hard drive running 5 minutes after the car is turned off. I am not talking about the engine fan but one that sound to be coming from the center stack and sounds like a hard drive or a DRV. Any thoughts?

 

The light will go off after quite a while. Completely normal.

The noise could be from the water pump cooling the turbo. It will run for a while after shutoff and I can sometimes hear it from the cabin of my JCW. If you have navigation, it should be solid state - no hard drive.

 

Thanks for the info on the light. On the noise in the center stack, it is not the engine cooling fan. I heard the sound from the stack after the engine fan goes off. Have the Nav so thought it may be something to do with it. Sounds like a DVR running. I know we don't have a DVR in the car but that is the sound it makes...It did go off after a few minutes but just curious what it may be..
Now, to figure out the garage door opener........

 

There are alot of things that seem to run after the you shut the car off. All the things you described sound normal to me. Garage door opener is a pain at first but once you get it programed its easy. Congrats on the new cabrio.
