Just turned 10,000 on Friday of this week - was returning from Raleigh, NC, to Nashville, TN. A long stint on I-40. Pretty typical wintery December day here. Had driven down on Tue/Wed of this week. (Only my second really long trip in the CM; first with the new Firestone non-runflat tires.)

Was very pleasantly surprised to find that the last three fill-ups yielded 32 to 33 MPG! Calculated by simply topping off the tank and relying upon the auto-shutoff of the pump. And the fill-ups were at different stations, so there is a chance of some variability of there re when a full tank is detected.

I was running 60-75 mph virtually the entire trip, with some serious climbs through the Smokies. (Did have some stops, of course.) Temperature varied from the low 50's down to the high 30's. Part of the outbound portion of the trip to Raleigh was in very heavy rain.

This compares to the overall lifetime mileage of about 25 mpg that I've gotten. So overall, I see it as just a bit lower than expected, based on EPA guesstimates of 25/32.

As an aside - the base leatherette seats can drive you a crazy on a long trip like this!

 

oh yeah - this is virtually all ethanol-free gas. Thank you, http://pure-gas.org/ I've only had a couple of tanks where I was in an area that I couldn't find a pure-gas station.
