Would the wheels for an early R50 fit a 2012 R56? I had heard that the bolt diameters were different and the R84 wheels would need to be redrilled in order to work. Please clarify for me. Thanks!

Per the FAQ on mini2.com:
On July 12, 2006 the size of wheel bolts was changed from M12x1.5 to M14x1.25. There exists a misconception that this change in wheel bolt size precludes fitting early OEM wheels on later model cars. This is simply not true as all OEM wheels have holes large enough for either size wheel bolt.
Additionally, I have a set of R84 X-Lites and a 2009 R56 Cooper.
I did a track day at Sebring on those X-Lites with absolutely zero changes to the stock bolts, either set of wheels, etc. No issues. Just unbolted the stock ones, and bolted up the X-lites.
