R60 New Meaning to "Black Friday"
New Meaning to "Black Friday"
As mentioned earlier in another post..my Countryman has been at the dealership for some added features..Mud Flaps all around, as well as a set of Mini Driving Lights. Look awesome
While at service I asked them to look in to a high speed vibration..after several obvious checks.. re-balanced tires…rotated, even swapped out four others off another All4S without issues. It was determind that the electric clutch for rear differential was locked in 4 wheel. (Could explain poor gas mileage)
Originally was a 7-10 day wait for a non-inventory part from Germany…two days later acquired it from another dealership and rectified the vibration issues
. Never made it to the dealership on Wednesday as I was traveling and traffice was horrific…best way to describe it!
Got a call yesterday prior to picking it up..That when the service personal arrived they found the that MY vehicle was broken into.
Passenger side window smashed…damage to passenger door, crease on side of the hood, 3M Clear Bra damaged as well.
Inside 100's if not thousands of tiny glass particles everywhere…along with thousands of dollars of installed and personal items missing.
No one's fault…as most mini's that are not in the middle of service are left outside..but they no I'm pretty particular where My vehicle goes and parks and communicated that it would be stored inside overnight.
Why it was not brought in..from outside after I called/emailed saying I would'nt arrive in time…not sure
For almost ten days it was there parked inside, Wednedays evening as well as all day on Thansnksgiving and evening
Met with operations manager this morning, trying to determine what the process is…my insurance, there insurance combination of both
They assured me it will all work out.
Anybody have any dealership accidents/incidents experiences ??

Sorry about all this trouble Flyer.
Try to have their insurance reimburse you but it will be a struggle because the fine print on the repair orders usually says they are not responsible for damage other than at their own hands. It usually specifies that they are not reponsible for lost / stolen articles. You may want to check that now just to be prepared.
Your auto insurance comp policy will cover the damage to the glass, the body damage, and the OE equipment that was stolen / damaged as part of the loss. They will probably cover the clear bra as well, but the typical policy excludes aftermarket equipment unless it is specifically listed on the policy. Again, time for some reading so you are prepared.
If you had additional personal items that were stolen (portable GPS, phone, cash, toll tag) none of that will be covered under auto comprehensive. These types of items are considered personal property and would only be covered under a home owners claim. That means another deductible which is usually much higher than auto comp. There are two types of coverage. Actual Cash Value (ACV) and replacement cost. Most people have replacement cost coverage but you may have ACV if you shopped for price. The way it works on an ACV policy is you get reimbursed for the current value of the stolen / damaged items, which means practically nothing since electronic equipment depreciates fast. With a replacement cost policy you get reimbursed for replacing lost stolen items that are of same grade as what was stolen. You typically get ACV amount paid to you first, then once you have a receipt to prove you replaced with a like item, you get the balance.
Your best bet is to have it all handled by the dealer.

I feel for your loss. PP has it right.
I always strip my car of personal belongings before a trip to the dealer. Accessories and mods on the car you can't do much about.
Chances are you will have to come to a deal with the dealership. The dealership deductible is probably pretty high so whatever comp you are looking for may be a cash deal for them which will complicate things.
Sorry

Sorry
Back in 2004, I had our MCS down there for a week while they were getting a new ECU from NJ to try to correct the Yo-Yo-ing supercharger bypass valve. It was parked out in the lot next to service and had the black MINI inserts prised-off the wheel covers. I didn't notice it until a few days later, but it had been driven straight back from the dealer and parked inside our garage. Even though they cost less than $15 to replace, it still bothered me.
Between your insurance and the dealer's things should get sorted out, but it still is kind of a "violation" playing with your psyche. I hope you didn't lose any personal stuff that can't be replaced...

hey flyer...hope your insurance and break in issue is being resolved to your satisfaction. I hate hearing stories like that.
Do you have more info on your rear differential issue? I'm looking for more regarding the vibrations, etc. Did you have the wheel vibration from day 1 or did it develop over time? Curious...and how much of a mileage drop did you have?
