If you have a hardtop then it should already be there. The only purpose of it is being the "Oh ****!" Handle. The handle on the door can be used for this as well.

Do you need the overhead one? Not really.

I would think it cannot be placed in the same position as it is on other cars because of the side curtain air bags.

(The MINI was designed without the handles to help you develop your core muscles. )

Lol XD

I was wondering the same thing. I wanted the sun visor on the driver's side and the handle for getting in and out on the passenger side. The airbag comment makes sense though. There would be no place to mount near those.

how about this idea.

mount it on the sunroof side, or centerline of roof.

each time there is a corner approaching, my wife is reaching for something to hold onto, sunroof-frame, door-handle, dash, steering-wheel. she needs a oh sh~itter!

it can be done. you have to careful as to the mounting. the mounting points are behind the panel. if you google, you will find a post on here (NAM search doesn't work to good).

Apparently it is possible only for post-'04 model years, which have the proper mounting points.
