Latest oil change on my 2005 MCS, about 1" of the o-ring came apart when tightening the housing down (did not cross thread). Started the car and almost a quart got out before I could shut it down. I replaced the o-ring and filter again, went on with no problems.

I searched through the oil on the floor, felt around on the filter mount, and looked around in the engine bay and could not find the 1" of o-ring. If it is in the engine, thinking the filter at the pump will stop it and it will fall back into the pan.

Plan is to drive the car for a week or two, then change the oil again and see if the piece comes out.

Has anyone else had this happen? Any advise? Thanks!
