Maintenance after being in storage for 8 months?

I have my r53 in storage right now and will be home tomorrow finally for a little leave. Obviously I need to change the oil but what other procedures should I perform. It's been driven around every 2-3 weeks since it was in storage. It's my first time having a vehicle in storage since I've been in. I usually just sell my cars when I deploy etc. I'd appreciate any advice!! Also do any of you know what hardware stores sell the 36mm socket thats necessary to change the oil? I was previously using the auto hobby shop at my last base that has all the proper tools. I'm assuming Sears or Ace/Home Depot?

Just make sure you check all fluid levels. Oil, steering fluid, brake fluid, coolant, antifreeze...everything that can be measured. make sure all your lights work and just make sure it sounds the same as before.

If it's been driven every 2-3 weeks since you put it in storage, it should be ok. But to be on the safe side just check everything to make sure.

Thank you for everything you've been doing to serve our country! I hope for a safe trip home for you, and your MINI to be in working order.

Time to wash and re-oil your CAI? Tire Pressure check? Injector Cleaner additive?
When all is cleaned, refilled and checked wait a couple of days before giving her a hard run. Enjoy and safe driving..

The last time I was deployed, mine sat untouched and under 2 covers for 7 months. I charged the battery, changed the oil, removed the cables from the coil pack turned the engine over for several seconds. Conected everything back up, started him up, let idle for 5 minutes, drove it around the neighborhood for a few minutes to get everything warmed up. Hit the main streets to the highway, brought it up to highway speeds, after everything felt comfortable I dumbed the throttle and he welcomed me home.

Just a note about the socket, make sure the drive is around 3/8 because if it is too long you won't be able to 1) fit it in the tight space or 2) have enough room to pull out the filter because how the socket is jammed between the shield behind it and the filter cover....personal experience.

Driven every month or so, should be fine.
The coolant and brake fluid flushes should still be done on a calandar schedule, so make sure these two items have not been forgotten.
