I really want to click on sport mode and finally punch it. The manual says to ease into high rpm's once you have completed the break in period but I am sick and tired of babying it through
.
Should I ease into agressive sport button use or should I wait a bit longer and push a bit slower? I don't want to cause any long term engine problems.
Many thanks,
Swagin

I will be pushing the Sport Button as soon as I drive my JCW off the lot.
Like others have said in this old thread, the Sport Button re-maps the throttle response and stiffens the steering. Just be careful if you have an autobox as it changes the shift points and may make the engine go over 4,000+rpm:

Dealer had me and my father use the sport button when the car had 8 miles on it.
I didn't try it after until about 350miles. I've used it a few times for short distances as I'm approaching 700 miles. But in/out of sport mode I may have tach'd past 4,000 once.
Just don't go crazy, remember to obey those traffic laws!

When we test drove an '11 Mini Cooper with autobox, the sales guy who took us out showed how it could accelerate down a twisty onramp at max throttle. Forget 4k rpms, we were hitting over 6k rpm in 1st and 2nd gear.
And yes, that car had less than 1200 miles on it. One more reason to special order one's own car, I guess.
