Adding a touch if silver to black side markers???

I have recently purchased an '06 MC with black side markers. While I have a few chrome accents (grill, door handles...etc), I don't want an overly chromed look. But the side markers are black, and I want to add a touch of silver to help them fit the rest of the car. I have looked at several replacement side markers, but I find them too flashy.

I was wondering how the black plastic would hold a silver paint, and if certain types work better than others...what about a spray paint? I am comfortable taping off and painting to get the look I am after, just not sure how well the paint will hold up over time.

Thanks for any help.
