Would you recommend doing both classes if you've never autocrossed before or is it a practice level 1 skills for a while before tackling level 2? Thanks.

I have a similar question. I've done Phase 1 of the Evolution school and did 3 NASA-X events last season. Would I be bored in Level 1?

 

The answer I recieved was basically this; If your pocketbook can handle it and you can spend an entire weekend away from home then go for it!!!

I signed up for both.

 

Mac, I do recommend doing it back to back if you're going to take both. The instructors will remember working with you and the information continues to add on. Essentially, along with the instruction throughout the day, the Level 2 will be the practice you speak of, only with an instructor watching over you.

The Evolution School is much more mental than the schools we teach. Although the basics are covered in the Level 1, we generally get people that have been competing for a season that still enjoy it and learn from it.
Also, we require the Level 1 before the Level 2 so that we know you have been schooled on what you should know before moving on.

Both schools give you lots of seat time and great instructors, many of whom have been competitive on a National level in a MINI.

Last year I took Brian's schools back-to-back at the beginning of the season then observed the first event of the season before jumping in and driving. I then went back to the Level 2 school about 2/3rds through the season. I worked great for me and was time and money well spent. I maintain that Brian's schools are the best value of all the things you can do to prepare the car and yourself if you're just starting out.

In my first event I was 5 seconds behind the best times in GS and less than a second back at season's end. This year will be tough, though. Brian's coming into the class and a couple of very good GS drivers moved to Toyota Celicas.
