Rota Slip Stream 16x6.5 Tires

I am looking for a new set of tires for my Rota Slip Streams 16X6.5. They will be installed on a stock R53 2006 Mini S. Can I use 225/50/16 without any rubbing issues or do i need to to go smaller? Second question will my rims handle the 225 being only 6.5. FYI I do not know the offset of the wheel.
Tire I am considering
Hankook Ventus V12 EVO 225/50/16

I don't know if you plan to autocross the car, but the guy who mopped up in DS in Blue Ridge Region SCCA last season in his MCS used 16X6.5 Rota Slip Steams with 215/40/16 Kumho V710 tires. Those tires are smaller in diameter than OE, but he only used them for AX. What I'm thinking though, is that, assuming they wouldn't rub anywhere, he might have used 225s if they were quicker than the 215s.

My own view is that 225s are probably a bit too wide to work optimally on 6.5" rims. I'm not even sure about 215s, but 205/50/16 seems to work very well, as they are molded exactly to fit a 6.5" rim.

Perhaps you should find out what the offset is on those wheels first.

Oh, and welcome to NAM.

I have used this rim for auto x in the past. I used 215/45/16 RT 615's. I now want to use the slip streams for around town. The run flats on the OEM rims are worn out. Tread wear is not an issue as I only put 5k a year on this car.
I do want to auto cross for fun about twice a year.
Thanks

I have 205/50-16 Dunlop Star Specs on those rims. The grip is beyond usable on the street. My notes say 45mm offset.

The Hankook 225/50-16's are approved for 6.5 to 7.5" wide wheels and have a diameter of 24.7". See specs at TireRack.com.
