Will the Cooper S do 160?

....yes it will. I had all intentions on just taking it easy on the ride home tonight after a softball game but I must've hit a sweet spot in the traffic and literally had about a mile of four lane highway to myself. The result, was a rather quick accel up to about 130 or so...then a little more time and work until she was buried. Stuff goes by quick at that speed....pretty impressed I must say. The car loses some breath over 140 but it get's there.

Up until this...I haven't had much of a chance to get up over 120 due to traffic. Handles solid as a rock at the high speed. Granted I am on PSS10 coilovers but very nice.

WOW,Daring in Ct..We're you on 95 0r 91.I used to live in Westport and there were state troopers everywhere. It must have been in the weeee hours of the morning. You nailed 160 without blowing your engine or turbo to pieces I'm impressed, but I would'nt press your luck again, odds are you'll get stopped

First of all- VERY stupid - and this thread will soon be deleted.

2nd of all - NOT possible on a stock MINI - Limited to 126 MPH by the PCM.

Since the thing is as aerodynamic as a rock, it's acceleration really drops off over 120. Also, OP is clearly in Germany right now, and was on the Autobahn .

Since that won't work IB4TL.

Yeah...I was sweating a bit afterwards. It was on 91. I would name the stretch but that's not neccessary. This was not is the wee hours but at dusk. I actually covered quite a bit of ground between 7:56 and 7:58. There was nowhere for a cop to hide within this stretch and as I mentioned...the highway was totally bare which, to be quite frank, I couldn't believe. I have never been on this stretch when it was totally empty at this hour during the week. I do not condone speeding but let's be honest....we have all done it and after seeing this wide open horizon....well, I couldn't help myself.

huh? I didn't say it was a smart thing to do. My MINI is not stock by the way (I have a FORGE intercooler and AP)....it got to 130 with absolute ease.

That would be tought to beat for sure. That is what some might say is "making good time." I guess that I am sort of confused about the locking of the thread. It's not like I was racing somebody or posting about a highway "kill" or something. I am not into that. I would only endanger myself...not innocent people on the highway. I am a full grown man with kids. I am not a totally irresponsible idiot.

Something about not condoning breaking laws, so they lock these types.

but yet we have pages of radar detector threads. Because everyone has a radar detector so they can safely go the speed limit.

People around here don't understand that there is a difference between weaving in and out of traffic doing 100+ and doing 100+ with no one around you...

Interesting....

Well...I don't condone speeding and I respect authority as they are doing an important job but ****....life is too short not to live and drive so, if it makes somebody happy to shut it down then so be it.

I was just honestly surprised with how well the car performed and the fact that the speedometer was actually "bury-able." Maybe next time I'll hook up the radar detector and all will be fine.

LEGAL
Posts relating to street racing, excessive speeding, or violations of other laws are prohibited. If you want to race, take it to a legal venue.
When you signed up for an account of NAM, you were asked to review the guidelines. This thread is clear violation of the guideline therefore the thread will be locked. NAM does not condone to speeding illegally and always recommend safe and legal driving. Radar detectors are only illegal in some states, and one can always debate how effective they truly are.

No action will be taken against the OP; consider this a friendly reminder. Thank you. Feel free to PM me with any questions.
