Windshield needs replacing. Go to dealer?????

Our 08 Cooper Convertible needs its windshield replaced ... Urg...
Has anyone gone through their dealer to have this done? I don't want
after market... I'm in San Diego and would welcome some suggestions on who to use for the job. We purchased our Mini from Mini of Escondido and apparently they do replace windshields... Thanks for any help, thoughts or suggestions.

Need to call a reputable Auto Glass Company...

Advice from:

1. Friends or Co-Workers.

2. Other MINI Owners.

3. Auto Body Shop you trust.

can help also.

You will pay through the roof at the Dealer.

Check with a mini centric shop...they might have a list of places they use to do it right..
the dealer might even tell you the name of the glass company they sub the work out too...very few actually do the glssswork themselves....
Doing a mini windshield right is slightly more timecomsuming and can REQUIRE mini specfic dealer only parts to do it right....like mouting clips or side trim.....the hacks will just use exta sealent...and hope/pray.

You do not mention any information regarding insurance. If you have glass coverage then you will have to pay for a deductible and it may not cost you any additional to have it done at the dealer. Having said that, you would need to check with your insurance carrier to see what they will allow and check with your dealer to see if they are indeed more expensive (probably) and how much more expensive they are.

My insurance company has replaced my windshield a bunch of times on various different cars. Some glass companies have even paid my $100 deductible so the windshield was free. Right now I have a friend who works at a glass place and is a skilled craftsman at his trade so I have him do the replacement. Besides, he gives me a deal.

Call your insurance company. They might give the name of the company they use to replace windshields for them.
