Looking to lease a mini cooper

I am looking to lease a 2011 Mini Cooper hardtop sometime in the future. I noticed there is a promotion going on for $199 lease deal but none of my local mini dealers had the vehicles. A local salesman found a manual transmission with zero options for about $300 a month (no downpay) for a 36 month/15k mile lease. Is this a good deal?

I would do your research on the mini website before buying something. You can have it calculate the lease payment on the vehicle you build. keep it simple. 199 lease involves money down i'm sure its like any other sales pitch.

that 300/mo 36mo/15K deal doesn't sound all that bad. It's 15K a year, right?

That's actually not bad. 15K/yr is a lot more mileage than many leases I've seen. I never leased a car because I drive too much and most leases I've seen are either 10K or 12K miles per year and I'd go way past that but 15K would give me something to consider.

With the current finance rates and other incentives, why not skip the lease and just buy it? At the risk of diverging into the lease vs buy debate, I am "old school" and have never quite understood the leasing / rent-to-own particularly when it came to personal items. Of course, leasing in a business situation is quite different, because lease payments are often tax deductible. I can also understand leasing a high tech item that is obsolete in 3 yrs or less. Generally speaking cars and other personal items just don't fall into that category. Of course, like many others, I drive 15000+ miles a year, so leasing has never been an option for me.

I was going to lease, but after one test drive and reading this forum, I knew I could not resist modifying it! I purchased a used clean low mileage lease return for less then I could lease a new one. I have been very pleased with my decision. It may be an option for you.
