Mini JCW K04 project

Hi I started this thread to update a new project based on a Mini JCW. The prupose of this project was to achieve 280hp at the engine with pump gas 98 and keep EGT below stock at wot. The car should also be nice to be driven on the road.

So we managed to install a k04 turbocharger, bigger intercooler, new pipe work, exhaust manifold and cat removed, new software.

this project may be not ready yet, but today's dyno already showed 208kw with 30ºC

here are some pictures of the engine:

without radiators

later I will update with more pictures and videos

Hi,

Both wrong...lol I´m from Portugal. On the screen is all Portuguese!
Thank you.

P.S Later on we have some road test with other cars so we can see what the numbers mean in road against others...

I should've read the small red font! All the rest reads just like Spanish, no Portuguese characters in there.

How much boost are you running?

Hi,

At max power 1.4 bar...then drops to 1.3 up to red line, if the iat rise from 30 C to 50 C. Below that, it rises to 1.5 and drops to 1.4 up to red line. Above 50 C is 1.3 droping to 1.2 to red line ( i will upload the dynochart with this iat also so you can see if i remember it makes 190 kw ). Our 98 is very bad, so hig boost and warm days don´t mix...lol

I am very proud to see another great project of my best friend Miguel P.

I've seen videos of each performance and is very good to begin with.

We will see the next increment

Regards for all

Though that is beautiful craftsmanship, it’s a lot of overkill, don’t you think? There are R56’s running right now pushing 280 at the engine right now with nothing more than a tune, exhaust and CAI.

Looks great though...

I'd LOVE to know the results of that manifold...theres very little room to make something like that, and they seem to have pulled it off nicely. Just wonder how it performs....

As mentioned, great craftsmanship! Looks like a fun project! What kind of software are you using to tune?

Hi,

That car is going to overheat the coolant with any decent driving eg on the track. It might be good for a couple of dyno runs, but put it on a racetrack or extremely spirited road driving and there is simply not going to be enough cool air flowing to the radiator.

Trust me, I know

robbo mcs, I'm not saying you're wrong, but I just wanted to let you know that Miguel Patrocínio is used to build and tune racing cars for about 15 years.

The VW TFSI engine uses a similar intercooler setup, seems to do just fine.

To be honest with you no. A stock mini here will dyno arround 155 Kw, chiped i never saw more than 167 kw, yes 12kw more arround 6000 rpm.
So 280 hp ( in this dyno ) is a non realistic number.
Can you show me a video of that mini with 280 hp stock doing 100-200 km/h on flat road .

Im sorry but i have to agree with (Miguel P) i did alot of reserch, have spoken with alot of people including Jan from RMW who tuned my 08 MCS and there is no way that with a tune+CAI+exhaust will put down 280Hp.....SORRY FYI Mark by doing an exhaust you only gain but 2-3 Hp, a tune 35-45hp and CAI 10-12..... but then again IMO $3,000 for a pair of JCW seats is WAY OVERKILL..... Miguel keep up the good work...

a chip, exhaust and intake on a JCW will make around 230-240whp, (which is 270-280bhp)

exhaust will gain more like 20-25 hp (catless turboback), a tune (on a JCW) more like 25-35 hp, and CAI 5-10hp

Sorry but there are JCW's that are....

He said 280 at the engine which at the wheels would be 240-250whp. Most of them are also making over 300-ft lbs to the wheels.
