MINI Reliabilty...more than just JD Powers

While shopping for my new '11MCSa I frequented NAM looking for anything to be leery of and to say the least I found plenty to ready. But I think you can lurk the forums and find both good and bad. More bad than good in many cases, so I thought I'd share some the good news I found.

MSN Autos scores the 2007 MINI Cooper with it's highest rating for reliability.

How do they come up with their ratings at MSN? It's a bit different from JD Power, so if your interested read more here.

Also here is a list of the "Worst Cars on the Road" by Forbes and Consumer Reports (takes into account quality, efficiency, reliability, safety and overall value)...and you'll be glad to know MINI didn't make their list

*Note: just posting for reference and as I don't currently own my MINI (still waiting for it to be shipped to CA), so don't shoot the messenger, I'm just sharing some of the other reliability info I found helpful when buying my MINI. Don't take while operating heavy machinery or if pregnant or if you experience an erection for more than 4 hours

Maybe if I remember I will come back to this thread and post up some annual updates on my own personal experience

My 2011 MCS is the most trouble-free car I've had in initial quality - first 6 months - compared to 4 BMWs, 2 Hondas, 1 Acura, 1 Ford and 1 Porsche. So far so good.

You know, I had a few "issues" the first year I had my 09 MCS. Nothing major and nothing that required a tow-in. Everything was known problems. Since then, I have had no problems and have really enjoyed owning this car.

JD Powers ranks based on any complaint. MINI owners are more likely to notice problems than a Lincoln or Buick owner. I look at myself versus my father. He refuses to use any functionality of his vehicle unless absolutely necessary, I use them because I have them. He won't notice that one doesn't work because he doesn't want to use it, but I'll notice in one day.

Most MINI issues are small things. I remember that one of the big complaints of my 2004 were the cup holders (a valid JD Powers complaint...). MINI gave me a few cup holder that mounted to the center stack pillar to rectify.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure those annoying things like sunshade creep, that factory armrest that doesn't stay shut, and overall quirky controls like the for the OBC aren't helping the MINI's JD Power rating any.
