205/45/17 on 17x7.5 wheels
205/45/17 on 17x7.5 wheels
I had 215/45/17 on my 17x7.5's but they rubbed... Americas tire took them back and gave me 205/45/17, and they weren't all that happy about it but they waived any fees on the swap. Unfortunately once I got home I noticed how stretched they were
The ride isn't too awful, but is it okay for the long haul (30,000 miles) or should I risk them raging on me and take it back again for 215/40 tires?

Stretched tires are ok (depending on who you ask.) Professional drifting teams have stretched tires on their wheels, and they race perfectly fine. Some drivers prefer the stretched look. I have 215/40/17 for my set of 17x7.5. No stretch and a bit lower profile; so no rub either. 205/45 is the OEM size, and that's what they will probably stick with. They might blame you for having NON OEM sized wheels.
I just wanted to make sure it was okay. It looks outright dangerous for some reason. They stretch very wide and the ride isn't exactly pleasant. I'll stick with them. They actually look good on the wheels they're on.
Im running the same (tire/wheel size...but brands differ). Id hardly call it a stretch. Im guessing the tires you got have the rim protectors on the sides? (big thick rubber near rim)
Makes tires look very stretched on, like any new Lexus or Scion.
It won't have any adverse effects on driving, but if you want more tread the 215/40 is an option.... but 40 is usually much shorter than 45 for some reason
