Hey all, I picked up some of the official BMW induction cleaner after the dealer noted the large amount of carbon build up I had at my last service. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with this stuff before. I've got the right dilution ratio info (150ML cleaner to 400ML Gas) but I'm a little wary of how to deliver it. I've done seafoam treatments before with no problems, but since this will involve introducing gas straight into the intake manifold I'd rather not have anything explode. I don't have one of the fancy atomizer kits for this kind of treatment, but i'm hoping some patience with a spray bottle should yield the same results.

Any tips or opinions on the effectiveness of this stuff vs. seafoam would be greatly appreciated.

This is the same stuff as Redline SL1 or it used to be. It does not really work all that well in direct injection as in the Gen 2 Minis with the turbos. I have not tried using it in the seafoam method. Would be interesting.

I have been wondering the same thing. I know some people have the carfood drip feeder, I would love to know if the drip feeder really works better than a $2 spray bottle.

I am very tempted to get one, since even with using the spray bottle method I find myself not having the patience/pacing to not go through all of it in about a minute or two.

 

Get the Carfood drip feeder. It will do a far better job and it will last forever. I have had mine almost 8 years and used it dozens of times. It really lets you slow down and control the feed rate of cleaner so it is more effective. I usually speed it up right at the end to soak the carbon then shut off the motor and let it sit 30 minutes. Then do a second treatment. Do not rev up the engine afterward you will probably get a misfire and a CEL, although the CEL goes away after a day of driving.
