Interior/Exterior Custom Steering Wheel Install
Custom Steering Wheel Install
So I have been working hard on some new mods. And I restitched a wheel and have also sold another wheel I restitched. Both the wheels are "Union Jack" stitched but any color is possible. I have the ability to do a few different stitch patterns also. OEM stitch pattern, dual color OEM stitch alternating or any pattern requested, (IE blue blue red or blue red red.. Etc), baseball stitch like these ones, alternating colors with a baseball stitch, box stitch, diamond stitch, tri stitch (like BMWs). Feel free to contact me if there are any requests.
Enjoy.

Too easy man, you need minimum stuff a 25 Torx a 20 Torx and a ratchet set and you are golden.. Disconnect neg battery hold brakes for 15 sec.. Wait 30 mins and remove. Put one Torx in the hole at the base of the wheel and push up. Airbag pops off disconnect. Disconect multifunction pull off wheel with the one retaining bolt. Remove the airbag holding frame to access multifunction wires.. Reverse in new wheel. Install... Have some ice-cream... But don't forget to reconnect your battery after it's all back together. 15mins from start to finish not counting the 30 minute wait.
DSC and I have been chatting and we can use some info from the community. What's the best way to identify which wheel is which? I have a JCW, but the wheel certainly doesn't seem/feel performance oriented. We'd like to get this all straight up front as I was asking to make the wheel thicker as part of the process. But without knowing which wheel is which - it's getting painful. If someone can post a pic of all the variations available along with part numbers, then we can have a great resource.

JCW cars don't come with a JCW steering wheel. They come with the same as an MCS. The JCW wheel has a thicker rim, and I'm not positive but it may have a slightly smaller diameter, but don't quote me on that. Part numbers can be had on RealOEM.com.
All R56s have the same steering wheel. The 2011 JCWs come with the standard R56 wheel with red stitching, but its still the same wheel other than that.
The JCW is a thicker, smaller variation of the standard wheel. It's definitely worth the price.

im sure it is not much different... Im not sure because i have not looked at it... With BMWs the paddles are in the steering wheel... so they all come out as one pc.
Here is a thread showing a JCW wheel installed. https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/forums/jcw-garage/151007-jcw-alcantara-steering-wheel-installed.html.
