My R50 transmission

Im wondering if any of you R50 Owners have had any problems with the 1st gear on the midlands. The way i drive the transmission is very very gentle and i dont exceed 75 mph and when im in stop and go traffic i never downshift, what i do is take it out of gear and coast and use the brakes to a halt. i also dont rest my foot on the clutch either.

What im experiancing is a shaky pulsating action when im taking off from 1st while im giving it gas and easing away from the clutch. im not sure if its just me or if anyone else has had the same problem. i just replaced the clutch in november of 09 :/

I got this too on my getrag. I took it into BMW/MINI for a diagnosis, and they quoted me a little over $2k for a new clutch and flywheel. I made a mistake when I bought this car as I don't have that kind of money for upkeep and emergencies, so I put it on hold for the time being and the problem went away as winter rolled in. Maybe it was just the change in weather, but I don't really recommend doing this as well as it might ruin your transmission and possibly some other things. Try changing the fluid instead and see if that helps.

How many miles/ what year is your car?

You might have a bad CV joint or even a torn motor mount.

Yeah, I got a little of that, but it doesn't bother me. What pisses me off is that sometimes the transmission doesn't go into reverse.
