Slipping out of third gear

2000 miles on my 2011 MCS. I have accidentally slipped out of third gear several times because when I drive, I like to rest my hand on the gears in anticipation of moving to 4th gear. I tried applying the same amount of pressure on all the other gears, and I can not replicate the issue. This is only when the car is driving in third gear. This happens even when I'm applying gas.

Anyone have any experience with this? I searched and did not find anything.

Thanks!

R56 2011 MCS.

I was always told to not rest your hand on the gear shift unless you're going to shift....

Even when shifting you should not use more than your finger tips or the palm of your hand.

Don't do that - you'll either wear out the synchros or exactly what it's doing.

Put your hand on the steering wheel instead......
