Mini Tire Wheel Protection

Well after just two months of ownership on the countryman I hit a pretty bad pothole in New York. I couldn't go to the Mini dealership that was closer because since this is a new model year alot of the dealers did not have the runflat in stock. I had to get roadside assistance to bring the car back to my dealer in New Jersey since they were able to find a tire for me.

The great news is that I did not have to pay for the tire at all since I was covered by that tire warranty. So if anyone is thinking about getting this warranty especially if you live in an area prone to potholes I highly recommend it.

That's good news.

I'm not so sure I want to go for it though... I would have to replace a RF 3 times to equal what I understand the cost of the tire warranty to be.

well, I'm getting ready to have "the argument" with the finance guy who will try and sell this to me when I pickup my CM sometime in the next 3 weeks...

runflats are expensive.
runflats have to replaced when one is punctured or otherwise broken.

and, there are 4 tires on the car.

over 8 years with my MCS, I bought 1 new set of runflats, then I ended up replacing them with regular tires and carrying a can of fix-a-flat in the trunk.

I don't think that the insurance is a good deal if purchased at time of sale - does anyone have any other opinions?

(I also recall the chat with the finance guy when buying my wife's Convertible, which didn't have runflats, and he tried to sell us runflat insurance...)

You may want to check about your rims...I believe they are part of that warranty also.

We were just discussing this in another thread. The price is negotiable so
talk them down if you decide to go for the warranty. Mine went down to $895,
another person said they got it down to $799. I am getting rid of the RF anyway
when they get worn or damaged so I opted not to get it.
