Clubman Has More Cargo Space Than The Countryman?

I was at the dealer tonight, and I noticed, on a Clubman S, since there is no tire, the well is very deep. On the Countryman, it's no where near as deep.... then again, there might be a false floor I was not able to open....

Comparing them both side by side several times in the past month, not looking at the numbers, I'd say the Clubman is more cargo space oriented where the Countryman is more people space oriented; two different shaped boxes. At least as far as things go behind the driver.

The one thing I haven't done yet is compare the hard numbers on cubic storage space, but I think it still comes down to more of how you'd use it that's going to lean one way or the other as to which space fits your lifestyle better. I'd be interested to see how close the seat up and seat down storage space numbers are.

According to the MINI USA website, the Clubman has 9.2 cu ft of cargo space with the rear seat up, while the Countryman has 16.5; with the rear seat down the Clubman has 32.8 cu ft and the Countryman 41.3. That said, to me the Clubman feels like it has more cargo room than the Countryman - perhaps because in the Countryman more of that space is vertical.

I suspect the mini site is not including the space under the lower floor on the clubman

I have a non-S Clubman, and I have to say that the rear storage capacity is amazing considering how small the car is. This past weekend, I drove my husband and 2 kids for a weekend trip. I carried 2 luggage carry-on size bags, standing side by side, as well as a duffel bag and several grocery bags, all in the boot with the false floor door opened up. (see photo in gallery if interested). When I saw the Countryman in my local dealer in November, I was surprised to see that the storage capacity seemed to be about the same as my Clubman. I would have thought that the Countryman would have been bigger, but I think it's all in how the space is arranged. The Clubman is definitely efficient in its use of space.
