Well, as a MINI owner for the past two years, I finally have a question I can't seem to find an answer to as of yet; that's saying a lot, as the geniuses on this sight have saved me countless hours of troubleshooting to fix a few problems I have had with my car.

Anyway, I have a 2006 Cooper S with transmission issues. The transmission slips out of third gear when I release the clutch, with some great grinding sounds. From quotes and past experience, I am guessing that the synchronizer is bad, though one mechanic thought it may be the bearings. My question is, is there any place I can purchase the internal parts for my transmission? From my searches, it seems to me that these parts may not be publicly available. The dealer quoted me $5k to replace the transmission with a reman one, AAMCO quoted me $1600 just to remove the transmission and look at it, so they estimate at least $3500 with parts and reinstall, and my regular mechanic quoted me $500 a day, if I can provide the parts. So of course, I'm wanting to go that route, but having a tough time find any internal parts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there is any other information that would be beneficial to know, I'll be glad to provide it!

If you will check on ebay, automotive & truck parts, transmission, mini cooper s, you will find listings for complete repair parts. These are new, not used.
