R50 shift lug same as R53 shift lug

I am working on my conversion from a 5 speed to a 6 speed and was wondering if the shift lug was the same for the R50 and R53. Does anyone know?

Do i just need new shift cables?

Thanks in advance.

If you are going to do 6 speed swap you will need the MCS shift linkage as well.

I think you just need new cables, not the whole shifter-thing (lug). I'm not a mechanic but I did replace mine myself and it looked like you would just need the cables. The Speedwerks PDF file of the swap instructions mentions some stuff about that. Apparently there are 2 versions of the shift-lug and they're not interchangeable??(i don't know) The guy who sold me the tranny also sent the shift-lug and cables, so I just took mine out and put that one in.

If you need the PDF, I have an electronic copy I can send to you - PM me.

I often wondered how the justacooper would drive with the extra gear - are they spaced even better for the different power curve of the NA engine or does it end up with spots where the gears are just off and the car feels like it has less juice? I'll admit I did not look up the ratios so shame on me....
