Hi,
I just picked up my mini cooper S 2011 yesterday. And I am in the process of discovering ways to work your mini to my specs...

As I was listening my music on my ipod thru mini, i realized the display on mini connected only allows English.. no other asian languages (it just displayed as "block".

Is it normal? or is it something that i have to download/update my mini to get those asian language to display properly?

It is been fairly normal for cars to support multi language ever since MP3 is being standard on the vehicles, and I dont understand 2011 Mini does not support multi language display..(mercedes, toyota, honda, Kia, etc)

The 2008-10's don't display kanji/etc, but if I remember correctly it does display umlauts and other accented latin letters.

There's MINIs in Japan and China, so I imagine they support them there, but probably only with a completely different firmware.

 

No kanji on my 2009 either. Ai otsuka and other similar artists give me many blank songs :-(

changing your language to "japanese" instead of "english" will allow you to display some, not all, chinese
