What's Missing in the Countryman?

Here are a couple of features I would like to see:

1. From MINI - Option for a Power Lift Gate

2. From MINI or Third Party - Locking cargo storage floor deck in the cargo area. Would rather see this as a MINI supplied deal, so you can use your MINI key to unlock it.

The Power Lift only because MINI is a premium level car, it seems fitting to have.

The locking area would be nice to lock a laptop, or other small valuable items, of course, with the keyless system you could just leave the FOB without the key keeping that area secure when you are forced to valet your MINI.

I'm sitting on the fence waiting for the bench option, but real close to ordering, item two is holding me up. I'm coming from a sedan that has a trunk that I can lock, including the folding rear seats with a valet mode.

I can't imagine that this option would cost more than $100 to $150 to have.

Keeping things practical and cost effective so we are not at a 40K dollar premium.....

Back seat map lights off C-pillars.

A center Arm Rest accessory for front and back seats which attaches to center rails.

A iPad holder accessory for center rails.

Auto tilt side mirrors for backing to curbs instead of fold in option.

Back seats which can fold down completely flat w/o the current "trap areas" for dogs legs and paws to get stuck in. ( maybe the future bench seat option will do this ? )

A LARGE cup holder. I had one in my 2005 Conv and moved it to my 2007 S screwed to the passenger side pillar. I can't find a place in the Countryman that doesn't interfer with the glove box or manual shifter.

Completely agree. Have both in our X5 and it is nice to have.

I would vote for:

i) one touch open-close on all windows and sunroof
ii) revised and more conventional emergency brake lever
iii) power seats (or are these present?)
iv) Chili Red, baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is a small list of things I wish were included in my Countryman.

Auto open/close for the sunroof.

Xeon Fog-lights to match the headlights.

A better cell phone holder.

removable rear headrests.

Besides that the car is perfect !!

Well now we have two threads on this topic. Perhaps they can be merged as it would be really nice to keep all these good ideas and thoughts together...

The other thread is located here...

Hi all, I'm new here and a Countryman wannabe hoping to make the change from my get around to the CM, but the thing that would really push my hand would be if Mini would bring over one of the diesels. I would already have an order in if the MINI CM D were in the states. Sad thing is that the current D meets our EPA standards.

Yes, I posted this in both forums to see if anyone comments on whether or not this will ever come to pass.

A better door armrest and a larger gas tank. Seriously, how does the largest Mini have the smallest gas tank???

Check motoringfile.com for interview with MINI USA product management in which the future of diesels in the US is discussed.

There are two things in the myth and lore of unshakable belief and fact of the Great American Motoring Public that will always be rejected and fail in the vast land defined by Canada, Mexico, and the two real Oceans. One of them is diesels and the other is stationwagons. Black smoke and wood grained vinyl is not on the horizon any time soon.

Thanks Midnight Blue, thats a great resource, although depressing since I am a big diesel fan. Maybe I'll end up leasing with the assumption that those amazingly efficient Mini's that VK was talking about will come to life.

1) Power seats.

2) SMG transmission option.

3) Front Park Distance Control.

4) Power liftgate.

5) A fully-functioning iPhone holder that charges and fully integrates the phone into the car's system. (Rumor is that it is on the way.)

SMG? It is so yesteryear.
Power lift gate? is it that heavy?
Front parking sensor? Is the CM so big and higher up that you can't see the front?

My biggest wish: a spare, and no run-flats.

Power lift gate would be awesome. Anyone that's carried groceries and one or more infants can appreciate where I'm coming from.

Speaking of diesels, VW has had the TDi for many years which retains a fabulous resale value not to mention they run forever.

The ULSD that was mandated by the EPA back in 2006, plus newer design fuel rail delivery systems and catalyst essentially make the exhaust invisible due to the near 100% burn off of the fuel.

A CM with a turbo-diesel would be awesome and probably close to double the current fuel mileage. Be worth every cent of the extra few grand it would probably cost.

I guess I"m the only one who doesn't miss power seats. I've been driving my husband's truck for the last few days(waiting for his CM and my new MCS) and it has power seats. It drives me nuts waiting for it to come forward or up or whatever. I'm in the seat muttering, c'mon already!
Diesel would be nice, though, and the power lift gate would be a nice plus.

Power seats with memory
Off switch for the ambient lighting
Fold-flat rear seats
Center arm rest that doesn't cost an extra $250 - am I the only one who thinks it's absurd to have to pay extra for an arm rest?
More powerful engine option
One-touch open/close for windows
A non-intrusive location for the parking brake handle

Don't get me wrong, I like the car...but it does have a number of silly/stupid flaws. The parking brake handle is a good example of stupid...who could possibly have thought that was a good idea, particularly in conjunction with the center rail?

Unless I'm misremembering, both front windows are one-touch. I'm almost positive the driver's window is so.

Not at all. I forgot about the extra charge for that option.
