2003MCS Retrofit R-ViewMirror w/HomeLink?

Can the 2003 MCS accept a rear-view mirror with homeLink garage door opener? Does the wiring accept a new version of the mirror with or without auto-dimming and the garage door opener?

The wiring provides 12v power. Period. It neither knows or cares what is plugged in. I believe the Homelink mirror was an option on the 03, so go for it.

At least the aftermarket mirrors with Homelink I have seen, are about twice as wide as the factory MINI mirror. Would that size be a problem?

I think you can do it. I have an '06 and for me it was PnP. The power comes to the mirror thru the 12V and the mirror itself controls the auto-dimming thru integrated front and rear sensors and the homelink function. The car's main computer does not control these functions at all and dealer programming is not necessary.

My harness was plugged into my mirror. The old mirror, my manual dip (non-autodimming and non-homelink) mirror had a harness plugged into it providing power for the 315Mhz radio built into my old mirror.
