Hi members thank you for having me join your list.
I am the new owner of a 2007 Mini Cooper S. I switched from owning a 2007 Tahoe to the Mini Cooper S, Chilly Pepper Red, Black sun roof and lovely Black Stripes on the bonnet.
It seems that the car I had wanted to get for so many years is more than I ever could have wished for.
The RF Contiprocontact 195/55/r16 tires that are on there now need to be replaced and I'm thinking about putting on either Bridgestone Potenza G 019 High performance all season or the Yokohama Avid ENVigor (H&V) High Performans All-Season.
I realize that I will not have a spare but I can carry a can of inflator sealant and I have roadside service.
Any Ideas, or experience with the switch from RF tires to standard would be greatly appreciated. Thank you Geertje

 

Welcome, and congratulations on your substantial downsizing.

I've never even driven on run-flats, but from what I've heard, and read here, you should like the switch.

My wife recently bought an '06 with 16" wheels and nearly new Bridgestone G019 tires. They're good tires, but I think the Yokos you mentioned are significantly better. You can do a comparison by going to www.tirerack.com.

 

Welcome, Depending on where you live. I would check out the Continental DWS for areas where you expect some snow. There is a great write up on tirerack.com about the DWS's being the best high performance all season tire in the snow. If you live in a more southern climate I would probably go with the Yokohama Envigor tires. The Bridgestone's do not seem to be rated as favorably.

 

I've had the Envigors for a few months and like them alot. Thy are great in the rain as I live in the N.W. In the snow however they and my Mini both didn't do well. Get snow tires for the snow.

 

I agree that the Conti DWS is king of the snow, at least for HP A/S tires. The OP is on the VA coast in Deltaville; east of Richmond and north of Norfolk. I don't think deep snow is much of a problem there.
