Tiniest of scratches on my paint
Tiniest of scratches on my paint
Hi all,
I noticed 2 of the most narrow, hair-width scratches on the club door of my 2010 Clubman, as well as 1 tiny speck-size chip on the hood, near the windshield sprayer. I have only been driving her since May, and although I know scratches happen, it is really upsetting to me.
I know that the touch up paint from the dealer can be a hassle to use, and I was considering applying it with a pin, but I am concerned that the skinny line of touch up paint will be more noticeable than the hair-line scratches. I also noticed that the scratches are almost completely invisible after a wash and coat of Zaino or Meguiar's Quik Detailer. Any thoughts on what to do? Touch up paint and clear coat? Clear coat only? Do nothing, and keep using Zaino/Meguiar's?
Many thanks!

Can you catch the scratch with your finger nail? If not, you can most likely polish it out. If a machine polisher and some Swirl aren't available to you try some Scratch-X by hand. However if you can catch the scratch with your finger nail then polishing probably wont do any good. And as for the chip, touch up paint is the way to go.
thanks
blinkboy1491: I will examine the scratches more closely when I get home. I think that I was not able to really feel them with my nail, but I have to check again to be sure.
thanks again!

absolutely!
the majority of people make a bigger mess when they try to use t/up paint the first time ....
little micro scratches in the clear are NOT paint worthy issues

scratch update
I checked out the scratches again last evening. They are really hard to see since I used Zaino over the weekend, and I can barely feel them with my nail. I felt a little better after observing that. Anyway, I will be looking into getting the Meguiar's Ultimate Compund and Scratch X, and seeing which works best. It is probably a good idea to have some on hand anyway, since I know my Chili Red is going to show all the tiny scratches I pick up eventually . . .
Any more thoughts are always welcome, and thanks!
