Drivetrain Dual Exhaust help
Dual Exhaust help
Hey all.....So I had a shop that messed up the job they did on my exhaust, and now I'm wanting to make a change. I'd like to look towards doing a dual exit exhaust out the rear. What are some people doing with the rear bumper spoiler? Cutting it and leaving the hole in the middle too? Getting the R50 pieces? What's been the best mufflers to go with? I'm looking towards the Megan's right now....but have thought about APEXi too. I measured under the rear of the car and theres plenty of room to place them. Anybody have any pics?
Over the years I have seen some pics on NAM.....but after hours of searching without any luck I just decided to start a new thread! lol....any help that you guys have would be great.....
Like I said....still trying to decide, and want to check out the look one more time before I make the jump.

Well, I purchased a Blue Flame exhaust years ago and it came with a rear valence to support the dual exit. It seems a lot of people nowadays just go for the R50 valence and cut out the other side to match. I've had to replace my Blue Flame since then and had a custom setup built by Exhaust Depot... and if I remember correctly they went with Magnaflow mufflers.
Not sure I can recommend Megan stuff... had their exhaust header and the flex joint started leaking just after two years of usage... but perhaps that's what I get for buying a header for $150 bucks... hehe

My local custom exhaust shop quoted me $300 for a dual set-up. The only thing they wouldn't do was the valence work. I was just going to get a Cooper valence and modify it. This was all planned before I came across the Ireland Engineering exhaust. They were just going to y pipe it and add a magnaflow muffler on both sides. Great design except for the fact that the cans they were going to use would have made the car look ricey IMO.
I built a dual output a few years ago. I cutout the stock mcs valence, but have another one to replace it with when I get around to it.

Trickle X, that's a hell of an exhaust setup!
I personally took the simple route and went with the Invidia exhaust. It's one of the cheapest on the market. I love the sporty tone the mufflers produce. Perhaps you could find out what brand they are.

I agres! Does look great! Well I have a unit coming that I bought from another nam user that has dual magnaflows, and an r50 aero bumper with extra cutout. I'm going to be painting the bumper. Will post pics when I get the project done.

Well just got done spraying some Chili Red 851 down on the new bumper that I picked up with magnaflow setup for $325 shipped. Its and R50 aero bumper with the secondary cutout. The process of the painting was actually really easy....I've never been brave enough to lay down color myself. But I have a buddy of mine that was able to get me all the supplies for only 60 bucks....so I decided to save myself a couple hundred bones in the process. I first used a scotch pad to rough the surface up after masking everything off, then tack clothed the surfaces to get everything off of it and make sure that it was perfectly clean. The paint that I went with was a single stage by Dupont....it was actually easier than I thought it would be to lay down. And I didn't even have to use a compressor and gun....I just picked up a little aerosol bottle with CO2 canisters....worked surprisingly well. Just a bit of wet sanding and I'm going to try and get a bit of the orange peel out of the paint too. I've got the old bumper off as well as all the old needed bits for the new part cleaned up. Now just have to get somebody local here in BFE to cut off the old rear section and put the new piece in. Has anybody out there had much experience wet sanding a single stage? Thanks!
