MB Quart 12" flat/shallow sub, any good?

I am starting to put together a list of options for my sub install, and came across the MB Quart 12" shallow mount sub, RLP-304. I believe MB Quart used to make decent speakers, but no idea of their recent stuff. They can be had for $75 from Amazon, which seems waaaay cheap compared to prices for MB Quart stuff in the past, which makes me think these might not be so good. Or maybe just a screaming deal? LOL

http://www.mbquart.com/reference_subs_rlp.html

Anyone know how these sound? And in general, how do shallow mount subs compare to "regular" subs? Like a lot of MINI owners, I would like to keep as much boot space as possible for grocery gettin'.

Thanks,
Maurtis

MB Quart has always had pretty good sound, even at the lower price range of their subwoofer models. I remember using two of their 12W0 subs back in 1991, and I think they were only a little over $100 each.

$75 is a particularly good price, too. Most places seem to get at least $90 for them.

Cool, hopefully I can find one nearby to listen to. I was thinking of going with a false-floor style flat box with the amp mounted under the passenger seat, so looks like it could be either two shallow mount subs or one traditional sub in the box.

I installed all MB quart

I had the H/K system in my 06 MCS and decided to do a lot of research on MB quart because I've had them in the past and loved them. What I found in a nutshell is the older "german" made speakers are excellent. Once the company was sold and they started manufacturing in other places some of their quality suffered. I run all MB quart speakes and AMPs except an eclipse h/u. I have both older "german" mfg'd and newer stuff. The speaker you are looking at is the newer version of the one I have. It looks like the specs requires less volume than mine. However, I'm running 2 ohm sealed box. If you're interested I can send you pics and info from the box I built. I still have boot space. Just let me know or if you had any othere questions. I've been meaning to post the pics of my install cause it turned out pretty good and still have boot space. I also installed sound deadening material which I'd recommend.

oh yeah. One 12" powered right will ROCK you.

Great place for the sub amp but I couldn't get enough volume in a box under there.

I guess I worded that funny, I meant the amp was to go under the passenger seat, with the box in the boot
